SPARTANBURG, SC – Upstate Forever, the League of Women Voters of Spartanburg County, 107-3 JAMZ, and News Channel 7 are partnering to host a political forum for the 16 candidates running in the eight contested November races: SC Senate District 11, SC Senate District 13, SC House District 32, SC House District 33, SC House District 37, SC House District 38, Spartanburg County Council District 12 and Spartanburg County Coroner. The forum will be held from 6-8pm on Monday, October 20, in the Barrett Room at the Spartanburg County Library Headquarters on Church Street in Spartanburg. The Democratic and Republican parties of Spartanburg County, the Spartanburg Herald-Journal, and the Hometown News are also participating sponsors.

A 107.3 JAMZ personality will moderate the forum and a panel of three questioners from Hometown News, News Channel 7, and the Spartanburg Herald-Journal will pose the questions. Citizens may submit questions for consideration by the panel by logging on to 1073jamz.com between September 12 and October 12. Questions will also be accepted from the audience prior to the start and provided to the media panel for use at their discretion. Doors will open at 5:30 pm.

“Upstate Forever partnered with the League of Women Voters of Spartanburg County, 107-3 JAMZ and News Channel 7 on a Candidate Forum for the primaries in June. We are using that experience to make some exciting changes with the hope that the public will come out to learn about the candidates and their positions on issues that impact everyone.,” said Angela Viney, Sustainable Communities Director for Upstate Forever. “We are also fortunate to have both the Democratic and Republican parties involved at this forum,” Viney added.

The forum is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to ensure seating and to submit questions.
