The list of honorees were revealed for the 2023 BET Hip-Hop Awards, which recognizes the achievements of creators who are impactful to Hip-Hop culture globally.
LL COOL J – founder and CEO of Rock The Bells – will present the “Rock The Bells Cultural Influence Award” to both Timbaland and Swizz Beatz for their respective cultural contributions, talents, and unbound creativity. In addition, Kiernan “AKA” Forbes will be honored with the “Global Visionary Award” posthumously for his profound impact on the global Hip-Hop landscape. Connie Orlando, EVP Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy for BET, said: “This year’s BET Hip Hop Awards will mark the culmination of our year-long celebration of Hip-Hop’s storied creation and the art form’s sonic and cultural expansion. We are honored by this year’s roster of nominees as they continue to carry the creativity and diversity of Hip-Hop into the future. We congratulate each nominee on their accomplishments as they take Hip-Hop artistry to new heights.”
Filmed in Atlanta, the 2023 BET Awards were hosted by Fat Joe for the second consecutive year. Performers include Offset, Sexyy Red, GloRilla, DaBaby, and Fivio Foreign and top nominees are Cardi B and 21 Savage.
The awards show will be aired on Oct. 10 at 9 p.m. ET.
